Le vol est une installation vidéo composée d’une nuée d’écrans
suspendus de façon désordonnée au-dessus de nous.
Dans chacun de ces écrans, un personnage secoue frénétiquement
les bras dans l’espoir puéril de pouvoir voler, et
de fait il vole.
Le décor se répand sur les écrans sous la forme d’une seule
et grande image, animée de mouvements oscillants et de
glissements rapides qui le renouvellent radicalement.
Les évolutions de ce fond évoquent ce que peut subir, des
assauts du vent, un nuage de moucherons insignifiants.
Les écrans sont affublés de petits haut-parleurs qui distillent
chacun leur part d’un vrombissement général, correspondant
aux postillons émis par chaque protagoniste, pour
évoquer le bruissement de ses ailes inexistantes.
L’installation séduisante, esthétisante, présente dans un
antagonisme cruel la concrétisation de l’un des rêves mythiques
de l’humanité, comme un comportement atavique.
Le regard est pris en porte-à-faux entre l’expression d’une
image onirique chatoyante et l’évocation d’une mécanique
sociétale sclérosante.
Le vol is a video installation composed of a host of screens
hanging in a disorderly way above us.
On each screen a character frenetically shakes his arms in
the puerile hope of being able to fly, and he does fly de facto.
The decor spreads over the screens in the form of one huge
image, animated with oscillating movements and rapid
shifts that radically change it.
The changes in this background evoke what a swarm of insignificant
midges might experience in the face of gusts of wind.
The screens are rigged with small speakers, each of which
distils its share of the general buzzing, corresponding to the
sputters each protagonist emits, to evoke the rustle of his
non-existent wings.
The appealing, mannered installation presents a cruel antagonism,
the concretization of one of humanity’s legendary
dreams, as an atavistic behaviour. The spectator is trapped
in an awkward position between the expression of a shimmering
dreamlike image and the evocation of an ossifying
societal mechanism.
